ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 (APP):UK-Pakistan Business Council (PBC) Thursday lauded the historic role of Prime Minister Imran Khan for hosting an epoch making meeting of OIC to fully support the war torn Afghanistan and drawing the global attention towards man made disasters cropping up in the region.
Talking to a delegation of leading traders from Manchester UK Sheryar Khan, Muhammad Adam Khan, Asfund Yar Khan and Mehar Khan here today, Mian Kashif Ashfaq said Prime Minister Imran Khan has categorically warned that any silence and delay from international community could potentially lead to a first ever man made disasters if it failed to respond timely in crisis ridden Afghanistan.
He said now even US has also acknowledged the sincere efforts of Pakistan for mustering international community support towards Afghanistan plight.
He said it was a good omen that OIC unanimously passed a resolution to express solidarity with Afghan and reiterated the commitment of OIC member states to help bring peace, security, stability and development to Afghanistan.
Mian Kashif Ashfaq said that UN has also warned that 60 percent of Afghanistan’s 38 million people may face crisis level of hunger and that alarming situation was getting worse with each passing day.
He appreciated the Pakistan and India for sending foods to Afghanistan and especially thanked pharmaceutical companies of Pakistan for dispatching first aid consignment of medicines for treatment of Afghan people.
Leader of visiting UK traders delegation Sheryar Khan who is also honorary commercial counsellor to Italy appointed by Pakistan government on the other hand urged Afghanistan government to abide by principles enshrined in UN and OIC chatters as well as honour its commitment under international agreements on international human rights covenants to pave way for immediate inflows of foreign aid and support for its rehabilitation.
